Ripmas M0

Boasting an active suspension system, a 3d printed power train, and weighing in at over 1300 g. This project absolutely consumed a month and a half of my free time. The Ripmas started from nothing more than a sketch and inspiration from a couple youtube videos. Throughout the project, problems and challenges had to be tackled with care and certainty, as every iteration and design failure costs time and money to fix.

The vehicle is powered by a 3580 kV motor, with a max rpm of 15000 and delivering 11 Nm of Torque through a reduction ratio of 1:3. The motor is powered by a 5200 mAh battery which added a significant amount of unwanted weight to the car. The white components seen were printed using matte PLA and the black compents were printed with PETG. A 20KG servo was used for the steering system.

The project costed over $380 dollars, $150 more than the intended budget. 42 hours of print time, half a roll of filament, and countless more hours spend on R&D later, I had something that I was proud to present. However, several core problems became apparent, mainly the weight and size of the car. Many many more changes must be made before I can be happy with its performance.

Overall, this project elevated my 3d printing knowledge to a professional level, Honed my fluidity with modeling, and absolutely humbled me every time I tried to get something to work with a lack of preperation, calculations and research. I thouroughly enjoyed working on this project and I can not wait to make a better car with everything I've learned from making this one. Ripmas M1 will be in the works.
